Nigel O. Hodge Foundation

Remembering Nigel O. Hodge

Nigel was a bright 11-year-old sixth-grader with a passion for baseball. He studied at Lockhart Elementary School.

In 1994, the family learned that Nigel was suffering from Hodgkin’s disease and sought medical help. To his detriment, a medical mistake occurred and he passed away within 38 days of his diagnosis.

About the Foundation

Nigel’s parents explored what they could do to make this incredible tragedy easier to understand. He could not be brought back, but maybe other children with cancer and critical illnesses could be given a better chance of living. They wanted their loss to lessen the pain of others. Thus, they established the Nigel O. Hodge Foundation in 1996, hoping that Nigel's memory may help others.

We help identify families in need in the U.S. Virgin Islands and throughout the Caribbean, and coordinate funds for those families. The family is deeply involved in the foundation and holds annual events to commemorate Nigel's birthday. These events help provide funds for the foundation's work and expand our volunteer network.
